I noticed this when trying to compile KDElibs on Irix 6.2. The
following test program failed:
main(){return(0);}
When compiling like ./configure wanted, this happends:
> egcs-c++ -o tmp -s tmp.cpp
ld: WARNING 84: /store/opt/egcs/lib/libstdc++.a is not used for resolving any symbol.
ld: WARNING 84: /usr/lib32/libm.so is not used for resolving any symbol.
ld: Segmentation fault. Removing output file...
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
zsh: 2943 exit 1 egcs-c++ -o tmp -s tmp.cpp
>
When removing '-s', everything is OK.
> egcs-c++ -o tmp tmp.cpp
ld: WARNING 84: /store/opt/egcs/lib/libstdc++.a is not used for resolving any symbol.
ld: WARNING 84: /usr/lib32/libm.so is not used for resolving any symbol.

There was no GCC available on this machine, so I was unable to test if
this is EGCS spesific or not, but I imagined that you would like to
know.
