If the pages are plain text, they are plain text (no links).
However, the table-of-contents pages could still be in HTML.
This would mean that, to read messages in thread order, you'd start
at the 'indexed-by-thread' pages, follow a link, then hit "Back"
on your browser and select the link for the next message.
