Failed to build a MIPS Cross compiler (missing mips/a.out.h ?)

Host     : i586-pc-linux-gnulibc1 (RedHat 4.2 based)
Target   : mips-mips-elf

The build seems to go OK till libgcc1-asm :

'mips-tfile.c' is present in egcs source, and a target entry for the
executable 'mips-tfile' is present in the Makefile. Trying to build this
on its own gives :

Should 'mips/a.out' be present ? or have i gone wrong somewhere else ?
