egcs, linux, where to install /usr/lib/gcc-lib/....

Hello,
I just installed egcs-1.0.3-libc5.x86.tar.bz2. Everything seems to work
OK, except I now must do something with the stuff in
/usr/lib/gcc-lib/i586-unknown-linux-gnulibc1/egcs-2.90.29/
like cpp, include, etc...

What is the recommended course of action ?
Make softlinks to /usr/bin for things like cpp?
What about ld, I don't suppose I want to replace what came with binutils
with what is in /usr/lib/gcc-lib/i586-unknown-linux-gnulibc1/egcs-2.90.29/
correct?

Thanks,
Mark Crosland
