[Q] status of SGI STL and ISO C++

I've noticed that the SGI STL of egcs diverges from the STL of Bjarne
III and the ISO Standard. I've followed the link from the egcs 1.0.3
release page to the SGI STL page, and the latest date I could find on
the "What's New" page
	<URL:http://www.sgi.com/Technology/STL/whats_new.html>
is Halloween of 1997.

That's over 6 months back. Is SGI STL being actively maintained? Are
they shooting for compliance with the standard? Or will egcs/gcc need
to fork off and maintain their own version of the library?
