Wow! A good 10-20% speed up with -mcpu=21164a - Thanks Richard!!!
My Dhrystone/s are now upto 961K dhry/s (best was 892K before),
and Mesa's Triangle plotting rate has gone upto 191K triangles/second
over about 160K with the previous version of EGCS.
Notes:
1) The binutils ....15 -> 17 and 17->18 patches appear to be broken
- patch complained about a lot of missing files; mainly docs
but a few other things as well.
2) Preusmably recompiling glibc would be a good idea? Are there
21164/21164a versions of things like strcmp? (Are they hand coded?)
Now if I could get that to 1M dhry/second (pointless but fun...)
Dave
