There's a multi-reg push because that's one instruction.

Of course.  Everything is still allowed.

See the alpha prologue where the stack is probed in a loop to make
sure that each page is present.

Of course it is a major problem.  How are you supposed to debug a
failure?  Guess at the stack trace?
