This is certainly a major achievement; I add my thanks to FX and Tobias
to yours.
Even though I might not use this feature myself (people are mighty
surprised that we run weather forecasting models still in single
precision - but it only takes some careful analysis of a number of
"difficult" spots to do so).
However, to the Fortran community as a whole, this is a vital
development, and gfortran will be praised for having 16 byte REAL (and
32 byte COMPLEX) support.
