Thanks for the suggestions regarding the handling
of pointer conversion.  Regarding the test for ELF,
is this the correct way to handle this?

   /* { dg-do compile { target *-*-elf* } } */

The test case won't run on non-ELF targets, but
that doesn't bother me much.  If it's important,
I could split the test case (one requiring ELF,
one not).
