 Sorry, . Very sorry to cause you such agitation.  I just realised
that my quicktest for  the float.h part didn't have the
_MINGW64_VERSION_MAJOR guard. So it doesn't break mingw32.  But why
did you feel the need to involve mingw32  in this patch at all?
