Ah, ok, at first I didn't get that because I never use
--enable-libstdcxx-debug, I use make CXXFLAGS instead. To be clear,
anyway, that configure option it still works perfectly fine.

Otherwise, if you build system experts have something to suggest even
for supporting building in a pre-existing build dir or any other
improvement for that matter, please send separate patches following all
the usual guidelines and including a clear explanation, not as replies
to other patches which in fact have nothing specifically to do with the
issue you are interested in fixing / improving. Thanks.
