Were you thinking of backporting this to the 4.4 branch?  My problem
mainly pops up when packaging GCC binaries for customers and currently
that means 4.3 or 4.4 based packages.  I don't need this on 4.3 because 
that branch does not save the SED path in mkheaders but the 4.4 branch
does.
