Either plan would be OK with me.  Not having heard any comments one way or the 
other about the idea for "the cfun stuff", I'm planning to jump into trying to 
implement it, and I hope another week of hacking will be enough to get something 
working.  That's assuming I don't run into some other intractable problem along 
the way!  :-P
