Sounds inconsistent to me. Do we not have a policy of "monotonous" changes?

Only for fixing bugs I think. But we for sure have a regression fixes only mode in which the 4.2 branch is.

Of course if there's a strong opinion I can do the change on the 4.2 branch
as well.  Mark?
