Re: RFA/RFC: Adding support for gmp and mpfr sources in the build tree
I continue to believe that incorporating these libraries into our tree
is a bad idea, and that even including machinery to use in-tree copies
is a bad idea,
Why is it a bad idea ? Is it the "funny options and DejaGNU goo" that
you referred to or is there some other reason why you do not like it ?
> at least until we have staged installation support.
Well I would definitely support the staged installation idea, I think
that would really benefit gcc.
I think GCC should be a stand-alone software package.
But at the moment, with the dependencies upon GMP and MPFR it really
isn't a stand alone package. Especially considering that the MPFR
package is not a commonly installed package on most systems.
