Steven, I've made mistake in original "ping^3" note.
http://gcc.gnu.org/ml//gcc-patches/2006-02/msg00941.html actually points
to another set of 6 patches: "vectorize type conversions";
multitypes.patch2.txt is part of that set.
"vectorize type conversions" is waiting long time for a review as well
and need to be updated. I already have updated 1/6 and 2/6
and going to post them shortly in "[patch] [4.2 projects] vectorize
type conversions" mail thread.
This ping^3 is related to another patch enhancing autovectorizer
by ability to support vectorization in the presence of strided accesses:

Most probably this patch should be updated as well, and I'll do it
immediately
after updating "vectorize type conversions" set of patches.
