This is correct.  When it comes to output (such as gmake -v), the
current year is sufficient.

This holds for source files; for a program identifying itself, the
last year relevant changes have been made is sufficient.

specifically "This copyright notice only needs to mention the most recent 
year in which changes were made?there's no need to list the years for 
previous versions' changes."
