     exactly those semantics.  You don't require them for subtypes,
     as far as I can tell.

Correct.  But now I realize that Ada binary modular types could be implemented
using TYPE_PRECISION and having expr.c do the truncation instead of the
Ada front end doing it.  Food for thought ...
