I'll say it. Our competition produces debug information around 16x smaller. When one blows out the vm space of the linker, I mean address bits, not swap, things are kinda evil.

We see three technologies to fix this problem:

1 Repository

I suggested this years ago and was told to go away becuase it wasn't a
workable solution.

Well, we are not going away, honest. It clearly is workable for our competition and for our customers. This is why I challenged dissenters to come up with solutions, because, if they can't, this is where we are headed, if they can great, I'm all ears, non-solutions are uninteresting to me.
