If we provide the needed guidelines and support for fixing the hacks (e.g.
section attributes or whatever), then we can have a deprecation cycle and
remove the option altogether. Either that, or Dan's way of supporting the
hack in the unit-at-a-time mode. Both ways seem reasonable to eventually
remove non-unit-at-a-time bits from the compiler.
