I don't think it is OK: The C front-end appears to have that
extension.  I think it is OK to explicitly mention that the extension
is only for the C front-end.

If the C front end still has the extension, then, yes the documentation should make it clear that this feature is no longer supported in C++, probably by adding it to the (incompletely-named) "deprecated features" section.
