Yes, I'm not a total idiot. My /usr/bin/make is GNU Make version 3.79, with whatever additions/patches Apple adds.



Naming the output file something$$.o would go a long way to mitigate my concerns about parallel make...


I'll look into this then, might be hard to get the $$ through to the shell cleanly though.
