Nathan and I don't have funding to do the whole megillah. Some pieces
of it may fall under the performance improvement contract CodeSourcery
has, though. Help with any piece would certainly be appreciated.
I'm going to create a branch for too-invasive-for-3.5 performance work
in the next few days; that would be the place for serious work towards
statically typed trees.
