Yikes! You have some serious breakage there and IMHO it is
worth investigating the cause. I regularly bootstrap GCC
(c,c++,java) on i686-pc-linux-gnu and the only failure
I see as of 2004-05-28 10AM IST is:

  FAIL: PR4766 -O3 compilation from source

If you're referring to Diego's results as posted in:

  http://gcc.gnu.org/ml/gcc-testresults/2004-05/msg01268.html

you should realise that all the other failures are
caused by the timeouts due to the EH breakage referred
to in this thread.

Can you please see the logs for what's going wrong?
What configure flags do you use?

In general, libjava should have 0 FAILs on
i686-pc-linux-gnu at least.
