I tried to take care of that when I noticed such patches, and Kazu (who
does most if this work) is also considering it.

Actually, I am more worried that changes Lisa and her editor(s) make will
also apply to mainline; and some cases this will mean coming up with two
different patches, one for the branch and one for mainline, but I think
we shouldn't have fixes on the branch without a corresponding fix also
for mainline.
