[all computers I use for ordinary development are down now because of the floods,
so sorry for sending new email].
At my previous employer (the Dutch Academic Supercomputer Center,
located in the Amsterdam quarter known as "Watergraafsmeer", which is at
-4 m relative to mean sea level), the running joke to tell visitors was
that management was at ground level and the computers on the first floor
(Americans substitute 1st floor for ground level and 2nd floor for first
floor), implicating that management was more expendable than the hardware.
