I think it's too substantial at this point. From what you're saying,
this has been a problem with the 3.0 series all along, so we're not
talking about a regression.
I understand it's critical for IA64 users, but I think the solution is
for someone to put up an IA64 version of 3.0.2 with this patch -- not
to introduce risk for people on all the other platforms at this point.
Once 3.0.2 is out, bring this up again -- perhaps this is so vital
that we need to get it in 3.0.3, despite it not being a regression.
Perhaps not. I dunno.
