I strongly second this, and I definitely would like to see this applied
ASAP, regardless of *any* future plans.
"Besser der Spatz in der Hand als die Taube auf dem Dach" -- your patch
exists and works; it just doesn't make sense waiting for something which
might arrive (or not).

I'm afraid this is not sufficient for us to accept and install this
patch -- we need a real copyright assignment
to the FSF.
Assuming (well, hoping) that this won't be your last patch I have
attached the required form for assigning this and possible future
patches to the FSF. If you really just want to assign a single patch
