Goodness me. We really need a better way to do all this stuff; it's
way too complex.
Thank you for your analysis. I agree, we should revert the patch.
Alexandre, Nathan -- will one of you take care of that? And, also,
make sure that the installation documentation explains what version
of binutils you need?
