A lot of sense, indeed!
The most current install documentation now resides in
install/specific.html, and we really ought to have exactly one place
for information like that.
I've had a volunteer who offered converting install/*.html to texinfo,
so that we'll have an installation manual of its own, but I haven't heard
from him for a couple of weeks now (and just asked him about the status).
In the meantime, what would be great, is to locate and remove information
that is obsolete for sure.
For example, I already got rid of a couple of the README files in gcc
directory, but there are further ones, and also the texinfo manual still
has lots of old cruft -- even though you and me already removed quite a
bit.
Any kind of information/updates on this kind of stuff is highly
appreciated!
