Do you know that the VAX port now has an official SC-appointed
maintainer? It's Dave Anglin <dave@hiauly1.hia.nrc.ca>. He has running
VAXen as do I. Would you please in the future check with him before
making commits like to a dead port?
This was not addressed to me, but I'll respond anyway.
I think what you suggest is a very bad idea because it causes there to
be only one person who can approve certain patches and that's exactly what
the structure set up for GCC development is trying hard to avoid.
I have made many changes like the above to ports I know nothing about
to fix problems where they don't build and such (or to make changes
dictated by interface changes). There's nothing wrong with that.
If a "dead port" breaks, it's hardly an urgent matter!
