If you want to reproduce the actual tarfiles, the CVS modules aren't the
right place to start; e.g., there was an egcs-g77-testsuite distribution
in egcs 1.1.2, but there never was a corresponding module; the
distributions included generated files from wwwdocs, but wwwdocs was not
tagged; the release script was not in CVS then (at least not public CVS)
but presumably did not use the modules (given the egcs-g77-testsuite
distribution), etc..
If the component tarfiles are wanted, the only sensible solution is to put
them in /pub/gcc/old-releases rather than using version-specific modules
to record what was in a particular part of the distribution at a
particular release, which still wouldn't get the files added by the
release script - and if desired, to tag the files in CVS that go into each
component with a tag for the (version, component) pair as well as for the
version.
