Ack!  I guess I blew it.

I knew there would be issues with layout, so I didn't plan on touching
those yet, but what's the dependency with mangling?

I'd like to just fix the Java front-end, if that's not too hard.  Alex
and I can help do that, for sure, and we'll help do it ASAP, if
someone will point us in the right direction.  I'd like to do that
because there are some other changes I'd like to make now that
mangling is cleaned up.  And, we need to do the Java work at some
point anyhow.  I bet it won't really be that big a change.

We can certainly back out my patch.  I won't have time to do that
until this evening, but if it can't wait, I've no objection to your
doing that, if you think it's necessary.
