Mark, I appreciate all you have done, but this decision is not yours
and it is not that of the egcs maintainers.

Fact is the almost everybody who is involved in gcc/libc on Linux
wants to switch over.  rth and I just yesterday found another good
reason.  But this cannot happen until we can switch over to DWARF for
all Linux (which are ready for wider use).  This currently is not
possible.  And once it is possible it requires careful handling.  All
libraries at this point will have stabs information.

The inconsistent behaviour hasn't caused any problems so far and I
don't expect any.  So let's drop this discussion.
