You are right!  Ugh!  It was just that I didn't run "make install" after "make."  Since, after building (with "make"), there were indeed libgomp.so and libgomp.a files in my gcc_install/bin32 and gcc_install/bin64 directories, I thought (wrongly) that the "make install" step was not necessary in this case.  Thank yiou very much again for your help.
