First up, gcc-help@ isn't (contrary to mail headers) a special address for
the gcc@ list. It's a list in its own right for people who want help using
GCC. And it's got a public web archive, too:
http://gcc.gnu.org/ml/gcc-help/2003-10/msg00022.html
Someone asked this a while ago who they wanted the telephone number in their
signature edited out. I can't find the message now but I think the answer
was no, along the lines that they didn't want to set a precedent and it'd be
unfeasible to track down all of the other mail archives which had the
message too.
Everyone's posted something to a public list they're not proud of. It
happens. I wouldn't worry about it.
