1) Yes. Lets say you have /usr/local/src/some/dir/gcc-3.0.1, where your
sources are, and /opt/build/compilers/C/gcc-build as builddir.
2) You change to builddir and call
``/usr/local/src/some/dir/gcc-3.0.1/configure ...'', all paths are then
hardcoded in the Makefile(s).
