Warnings - Does this mean they can't be switched off in the code?

Can warnings be switched off for specific parts of the code similar to the
visual C++ #pragma warning directive?
In looking for the answer on this site, I found 3 people who asked a similar
question (see below).  However noone appears to have responded.  Does this
mean that it can't be done easily?
