Re: gcc and binutils installation

Thank you for your answer.

I guess this is the order in which to install. Right?
You mentioned glibc here - does that mean I need to install a new glibc
for use with gcc-3.0, or is it just that *if* I should decide to install
a new glibc, I should do so after installing gcc-3.0?

If the new glibc is necessary for 3.0, can I have install that besides
the system glibc, or do I have to do an upgrade of the system glibc?

In the latter case, which glibc version do I need? Can I just replace
glibc and go on, or do I have to expect incompatibilities with other
(already compiled) programs?

Hmmm... Installing Wine and then Cygwin under Wine? Interesting thought
- at least, the least danger of breaking something.

Does Cygwin work under Wine?
What is WINSUP?

BTW, what about my other questions (esp. the --prefix one)?
