Q - how to implement a computer language with GCC 3.0

Hi GCC Help list,

Anyone have any advice whatsoever as how to implement a computer language
with GCC 3.0 as the backend compiler? That is, let's say I have in my mind
a computer language called (codename) Lame, and I want to be able to do "gcc
myapp.lame" and spit out a runnable "a.out".

Any URLs or instructions or showcase examples? Preferably something simple
and straightforward.

Any "in the spirit of free software" free books (.html, .pdf, et al), or
Addison-Wesley, or O'Reilly or somesuch?

Thanks,
