2 program headers

I'm building a program (gcc 2.95.2, binutils 2.10.1)
that links in an object file that came from a 3rd party .
Somehow I get 2 program headers in the binary.
objdump output of my program shows:
"
:test-draw: file format elf32-littlearm
test-draw
architecture: arm, flags 0x00000112:
EXEC_P, HAS_SYMS, D_PAGED
start address 0xc0038000

Program Header:
    LOAD off 0x00008000 vaddr 0xc0038000 paddr 0xc0038000 align 2**15
         filesz 0x0002fbbf memsz 0x0002fbbf flags r-x
    LOAD off 0x00038000 vaddr 0xc0068000 paddr 0xc0068000 align 2**15
filesz 0x0000045c memsz 0x00113e94 flags rw-
private flags = 0: [interworking not enabled] [APCS-32] [floats passed in
intege
r registers] [absolute position]"

I played with variious linker options but to no avail.
Is there any way to avoid this ?
TIA
Andy
