I am started to get my feet wet with the GNU now. I tried to pull down all
latest files and did a ./configure and then make just try to see if I can
compile the source that I just pulled down. (I am using NT4.0). I
encountered error in the fastjar library. It complainted about some missing
files for jargrep.c. The regex.h and then then reg_types.h. It seems to me
that those files are in different directory and require #define of
OSF_NAMESPACE_C_CHECK. I defined it in the make file. This jargrep file
seems needed for java and do I need really need that to make a simple c
compiler?
Sorry for my ignorance on this matter.

Building on GNU/Linux will certainly be way faster than building on
NT, even if using Cygwin. Note that you'll also need, at the very
least, binutils and newlib.
