For the "INTRINSIC :: " error, one could consider mentioning "-fall-intrinsics"
in the error message.

Regarding intrinsic subroutine and external/user-supplied function (and vice
versa): I think it is OK to not to warn.

You mean something like:
  call gamma()
       1
Warning: 'gamma' at (1) is regarded as external procedure but also exists as
intrinsic in Fortran 2008. You can [also?] use -fall-intrinsics to regard it as
intrinsic

Good question. I assume most users will simply use "-Wall" or no warning (at
least I do since I cannot remember all the -W* options) thus it will not matter
that much. Or one could call the option "-Wstd-intrinsics" or ...

However, I could imagine that there might be a few users who want to allow
-Wsurprising without implying this warning.
