Hum, thanks for the thanks! However, I feel it would be better to keep this
open because the code that the front-end previously generated was OK and
exposed a real bug in the middle-end, which might come and bite us again later.
So, I'm reopening this, unless a middle-end maintainer wants to shut it himself
as INVALID or WONTFIX.
Also, I'm raising this to priority P1, as is appropriate (if I understand
correctly) for a ice-on-valid-code regression.
