Works on powerpc-unknown-linux-gnu and i686-pc-linux-gnu with g++-4.0 (GCC)
4.0.2 20050821 (prerelease) (Debian 4.0.1-6).
Can you try reproducing with a recent snapshot from the 4.0 branch? This may
still be x86_64 specific, thanks.
