Note that the mentioned code in basic_file_stdio.cc does *not* exist in FSF
GCC3.4.x, i.e., it's a local mingw modification. Probably, *there* the #define
would make sense or, alternately, someone has to work on porting to FSF tree the
*complete* set of modifications.
