I have committed Steve's patch, commit message is at
http://gcc.gnu.org/ml/gcc-cvs/2005-06/msg00450.html . I don't know why
this didn't appear here.
Looking at
http://gcc.gnu.org/ml/gcc-testresults/2005-06/msg00821.html
it seems that this was indeed fixed.
