I can reproduce this with GNU C version 3.4.4 20050314 (prerelease)
(Debian 3.4.3-12) (alpha-linux).
This seems to be cause by unit-at-a-time inlining and implicit prototypes.
4.1 ICEs with
test.c:4: internal compiler error: in fold_convert, at fold-const.c:1921
Test case:
struct S1 { int a, b, c; };
struct S2 { struct S1 s1; };
void f1 (struct S2 *s2) { f2 (s2->s1); }
int f2 (struct S1 *s1) { return 0; }
Compile with -O3.
