zorn-32% make -v
GNU Make version 3.79.1, by Richard Stallman and Roland McGrath.
Perhaps it's a problem with parallel make on an NFS file system. I
just got a lot of strange errors involving the po directory.
I'll retry it on the slower machine where the file system resides.
