Yes, I have to confirm: it is the sun ld and sun as.
what /usr/ccs/bin/ld
/usr/ccs/bin/ld:
SunOS 5.7 Generic 106950-24 Sep 2003
what /usr/ccs/bin/as
/usr/ccs/bin/as:
RELEASE VERSION Workshop 4.0 Dev 96/06/07 [4.0]
AAARgh! an unpatched as!!!!
O.k. I installed patch 107058-02
now "as" is:
/usr/ccs/bin/as:
RELEASE VERSION Workshop 5.0 Dev [5.0]
....
But the error remains.
Building with as and ld from binutils 2.15 include patch from
http://sources.redhat.com/ml/binutils/2004-06/msg00114.html works as expected.
(Building gcc with the solaris 2.8 bundled as and ld works, btw. It is an
solaris 2.7 issue only)
